| | Barn Owls and other Birds in Danger
The RSPB has said that it has recieved various reports of deaths, particularly of barn owls, due to the "big freeze" currently affecting the UK.
The harsh winter conditions make finding food for birds almost impossible so many of them are dying in their roosts. Barn owls, for example, usually feed on mice, vole and small animals which are currently concealed by the snow.
The RSPB has encouraged farmers and members of the public to report any sick or injured looking birds to an animal rescue centre as soon as possible.
Birdtrader recently posted a guide on the blog about how to care for birds during the difficult season of winter.
